5/23/2023 0 Comments Sylvia day crossfireBut pages of pages of descriptive sex scenes just ruins the whole mood specially if it just doesn’t help the plot even a bit. The thing is sex isn’t a bad thing in a romance novel when written well because it can show the depth of emotions between the protagonists. But Sylvia Day didn’t focus on developing the plot line or characters as well as she could have, if she didn’t have them getting it on like rabbits every few pages. And I needed to know what happens, needed to know if these two get their happy ending. No really, the only thing that made me come back each time for this series was the bond between Eva and Gideon made me really love them. Gideon and Eva’s characters are so broken but so strong. In my honest opinion, The Crossfire series had the potential to be a really good series. Let’s start with the most annoying thing about this book series, shall we? (Few spoilers ahead)

Grann may have been armed with the latest technology and an armful of inoculations, but in that moment he and Fawcett were almost one and the same. Or he was, until his local fixer and guide went missing. Despite a lack of physical fitness and a loathing of camping, the writer was hot on Fawcett’s trail. Unbeknown to him, it was already broken beyond repair. The seriousness of the situation was matched only by its absurdity, as he moved through the mangroves raising his laptop aloft. Thos Robinson/Getty Images North America/Getty Images for The New Yorker FestivalĮstimates suggest that around 100 people had already died in the hunt for Fawcett, and Grann refused to be the next. 5/23/2023 0 Comments The Tenth Circle by Jodi PicoultAs glimpses of each character are revealed, you start to feel as if they are people from your own town and you grow to care for them and root for them. Telling it from multiple characters’ points of view only adds to the tension that mounts as this story unfolds, giving us insight into their true feelings and thoughts. It is a disturbing and memorable story of a family in deep crisis. The Tenth Circle definitely falls into this category. One of the reasons I love reading Jodi Picoult is that she is not afraid to write about timely, yet sometimes controversial, topics. My thoughts: This was a very powerful, compelling story. But he never imagined anything so devastating could happen to Trixie – and now he’s not sure how to help her. Daniel Stone has always done everything in his power to keep his daughter safe. A few hours later, a visibly shaken Trixie comes home and tells her father that Jason sexually assaulted her. Then one night at a party, their paths cross again. Trixie Stone is only a freshman in high school when Jason, the junior she thinks she loves, dumps her. With The Tenth Circle, she crafts the tale of a brokenhearted teenage girl and the father who will do anything to protect her. From the back of the audio case: New York Times best-selling author Jodi Picoult brilliantly explores the complex dynamics of troubled American families in her captivating novels. 5/23/2023 0 Comments The defining decade by dr meg jayMeg Jay, is a clinical psychologist who has made it her personal mission to let everyone in their twenties, whom she refers to as twentysomethings, know that 30 is not the new 20. The result is a provocative read that provides the tools necessary to take the most of your twenties, and shows us how work, relationships, personality, identity and even the brain can change more during this decade than at any other time in adulthood-if we use the time well. The Defining Decade: Why your twenties matter and how to make the most of them now is a must read for young adults. In The Defining Decade, Meg Jay argues that twentysomethings have been caught in a swirl of hype and misunderstanding, much of which has trivialized the most transformative time of our lives.ĭrawing from more than two decades of work with thousands of clients and students, Jay weaves the latest science of the twentysomething years with behind-closed-doors stories from twentysomethings themselves. Some say they are an extended adolescence. Meg Jay uses real stories from real lives to provide smart, compassionate, and constructive advice about the crucial (and. Our “thirty-is-the-new-twenty” culture tells us the twentysomething years don’t matter. Meg Jay gave a talk at TED2013 suggesting that the 20s are a person’s defining decade and it started a heated debate at the office. Revised and reissued for a new generation, let it change how you think about you and yours. The Defining Decade has changed the way millions of twentysomethings think about their twenties-and themselves. 5/22/2023 0 Comments The first salute tuchmanShe is clear and easy to understand with very good inflection. The narration by Nadia May is exceptional (that said, some people do not like her voice -a love it or hate it sort of thing so try the sample). Also, the writing style is brilliant and engaging. However, this is forgivable as her analysis is interesting, clear, and generally logical. She also indulges her tendency to tangential anecdote including a complete history of the Dutch war of independence from Spain and an in depth review of the careers of many actors going back decades before the events at the center of her book. This leads her to indulge in sweeping statements of human nature and political philosophy which get a little tedious. Tuchman is attracted to the Irrational in Human Affairs and finds much fodder for her interest in the actions of the British during the revolution. It is an excellent and interesting take on the revolution from an interesting perspective. This is Tuchman's history of the American revolution focusing on the naval aspects. It seems that no sooner than I go out and buy a converter to convert my tapes into MP3 than Audible comes out with this -). Before I start my review I have to say that I have loved the works of Tuchman since Highschool and owned this same work by the same narrator (on audio tape) for years. 5/22/2023 0 Comments High Heat by Annabeth AlbertThis title is part of the Carina Press Romance Promise: all the romance you're looking for with an HEA/HFN.
